St Elias Charles now has 101 convictions to his name, after admitting to 10 counts of theft and one of going equipped in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court.
The 56-year-old Bourne’s Village, St George resident reappeared in Court No. 2 for the facts to be read in and to be sentenced after previously pleading guilty to stealing: three blocks of cheese from Popular Discount, Spry Street, valued $134.97 on May 4, 2023; a car stereo valued at $500 belonging to Unicomer (Courts) Barbados Limited on May 4, 2023; a laptop and attachments worth $3 500 belonging to Michelle Thompson on May 30, 2023; a handbag and jar of cream belonging to Cheryl Forde on August 3rd; a laptop valued $1 800 and a $250 portable hotspot belonging to Batram Parsooram between August 4 and 8, 2023; a bag valued at $110, a $1 200 pair of glasses, three passports valued at $1 050 belonging to Sherrie-Ann Roberts on August 17, 2023; two speakers from Unicomer (Courts) Barbados Limited valued at $198 on August 19, 2023; a $100 purse, $107, driver’s licence, Barbados identification card, and other cards belonging to Racquel Davis and a $150 bag, a $100 charger, AirPods valued at $819 and clothes belonging to Xakyah Payne on August 27, 2023; three speakers belonging to Unicomer (Courts) Barbados Limited on August 28, 2023; and a cell phone worth $250 belonging to Richard Forde on August 31, 2023.
Charles also pleaded guilty that on September 1, 2023, not being at his place of residence, he had two pieces of metal for use in connection with theft.
Telling the court that “the next 19 days will be two years I in prison,” Charles asked to be released to get back to his family.
Taking the time he spent on remand into consideration, Magistrate Manila Renee sentenced him to 18 months behind bars for each count, all to run concurrently.
