Pride parade pushes forward despite delay

The Pride Barbados parade took place today in Bridgetown, a significant event for the LGBTQIA community despite the challenges posed by Hurricane Beryl.

June, celebrated globally as Pride Month, saw disruptions to the parade’s staging due to the hurricane’s impact.

Luke Lascaris, Vice Chair of Equals, highlighted the resilience and determination of the community in overcoming these obstacles. “While progress has been made, more has to be done,” Lascaris emphasized, underscoring the ongoing efforts towards equality and inclusion.

The parade also received notable support from international allies. European Union Ambassador Malgorzata Wasilewska, who was also in attendance, addressed the crowd, affirming the EU’s unwavering support for pride and equality for the LGBTQIA community.
