Police have made an appeal for Jakobi Talik Germain, also known as Bornaman to turn himself in for questioning in connection with investigations into Saturday’s deadly shooting in Nelson Street, The City, which left three people dead and eight injured.
During a press briefing at police headquarters late Sunday night, Detective Inspector Mitchell Roach, head of the Major Crimes Unit, spoke about the ongoing efforts to locate Germain and urged him to come forward.
“Recently, we’ve been experiencing a spate of violent crimes, in the Southern Division, most recently in the Northern Division today, and also before in The City, in the area of Nelson Street,” he said.
Roach confirmed that Germain, whose last known address has been given as Wellington Street, the City, and 8th Avenue, New Orleans, St Michael, had been seen at the bar on Nelson Street shortly before the attack. The incident, which took place after 1:55 a.m., on Saturday, saw gunmen open fire on patrons at a local bar, resulting in multiple casualties. Police have launched a full-scale investigation into the shooting.

The inspector further emphasised that Germain’s cooperation is critical to advancing the investigation.
“We’re urging Mr. Germain that he’s needed by the Criminal Investigation Department to assist with some of these investigations into incidents of violent crime that we are experiencing,” Roach said. “We’re urging him that if he intends to do so, he can be accompanied by an attorney, a law friend of his choice. I’m not even just mentioning a specific police station but any police station, but Mr Germain, we are seeking you to assist with these investigations in that regard of these violent crimes.
The head of the Major Crime Unit outlined the broader criminal pattern that Germain is suspected of being involved in, noting the spread of violence across several areas, including Silver Hill, Silver Sands, and Gall Hill in Christ Church, as well as Black Rock and the Nelson Street area. “We intend to carry out vigorous investigations and policing efforts in the areas,” Roach said, referring to the neighbourhoods affected by violent crimes.
