Waltz out as national security adviser and tapped for UN post

President Donald Trump announced today that he’s nominating Mike Waltz to serve as UN ambassador, shifting from his role as national security adviser.

Marco Rubio will now serve as secretary of state and interim national security adviser.

Earlier today, CNN reported that Waltz was expected to depart from his post in the coming days. He had been on shaky ground since he added a journalist to a group chat on military strikes.

Outgoing national security adviser Mike Waltz said he’s “deeply honored” to continue serving President Donald Trump after the president announced today that he’d be nominating Waltz to serve as the US ambassador to the United Nations.

“I’m deeply honored to continue my service to President Trump and our great nation,” Waltz wrote on X. (CNN)
