Fire Service to conduct simulation exercise in St. Peter

As part of its 70th anniversary celebrations, the Barbados Fire Service (BFS) will carry out a Multi-Agency Emergency Simulation Exercise in St. Peter on Thursday, May 22.

The drill is scheduled to run from 10:00 a.m. to noon.

Motorists and residents are advised that during this time, there may be an increase in emergency response vehicles along Highway 2A. Additionally, the road from The Whim to the junction at Church Street, Speightstown, will be partially closed and limited to local traffic only.

The BFS has assured the public, especially those residing near the exercise staging area, that the activities are part of a planned drill and there is no cause for alarm.

This simulation aims to enhance the country’s emergency preparedness and response capabilities by fostering collaboration among key stakeholders such as law enforcement, emergency responders, and community partners.

According to the BFS, joint training exercises are essential to ensuring a coordinated approach to emergencies and disasters. These simulations provide a practical setting for participants to assess their performance, address any challenges, and strengthen overall readiness for real-life incidents.

The initiative also aligns with international best practices in emergency management, highlighting the importance of interagency cooperation and strategic planning. (BGIS)
