There was a wave of support for new Member of Parliament for St James North Chad Blackman just before he took his first steps into the House of Assembly for the sitting this morning.

It was around 9:58 a.m. that Blackman arrived in Parliament Yard to a warm greeting from supporters.

Before his arrival, students from the Gordon Greenidge Primary School,  St Alban’s School, Vauxhall Primary, Shirley Chisolm School and Foundation School, where Blackman attended made their way into the public gallery.

There were also a number of supporters gathered on the outside to welcome Blackman as he makes his first appearance as an MP in the Lower House.

Blackman, who is the Minister of Educational Transformation was also greeted by Deputy Prime Minister Santia Blackman and Minister of Home Affairs Wilfred Abrahams who accompanied up the stairs and into the House of Assembly.
