They say good things come in threes and that’s the hope of Hijack Inc as it celebrates a milestone this Crop Over.
Band leader Jason Thompson shared that outlook as he explained the idea behind their 2025 Grand Kadooment theme Ménage à trois: The Trilogy.
“The journey of Hijack Band over the past decade can be likened to a ménage à trois, a unique and evolving union of distinct yet interconnected forces that have shaped their sound and identity.
“Much like the dynamic balance of three individuals in such an arrangement, the band’s story has been one of constant adaptation and growth,” Thompson said.
He made those comments during band house launch party at Mall 34 in The City recently.
He recalled that his brand had roots as “Party Starters,” a group defined by energy and vibrant celebrations. The evolution continued with the formation of Eunoia, where they explored deeper, more introspective themes, honed their craft and broadened their artistic expression.
Now, as Hijack he said they’ve fused these earlier influences to create a bold new identity that speaks to the complexities of their journey.
“Each phase of existence – the excitement of the party, the introspection of Eunoia and the bold rebellion of Hijack – has contributed to a collaborative narrative, reflecting the symbiosis of past, present, and future,” Thompson said.
The band will be participating in Grand Kadooment, Foreday Morning and Junior Kadooment.
The Grand Kadooment sections are: Renaissance, Masquerade, Genesis and Metamorphosis.
Their Foreday Morning theme is Reflections.
The band is also teaming up with Aura’s Sun Mas and their masqueraders will get an opportunity to participate in a two-day jump.
The first jump will be on Sunday, August 2 and on Grand Kadooment.
For Junior Kadooment, Hijack’s theme is Healthy Habits.
