Australia are 212 runs ahead just after the lunch interval on Day Three of the First Test match against West Indies at Kensington Oval.
The visitors sit on 222-6 after dominating the morning session. Australia scored 89 runs for the loss of one wicket, thanks mostly to the pair of Travis Head and Beau Webster.
Starting the day on 93-4, Australia were gifted another chance early on as Head was dropped on 21 runs off the bowling of Shamar Joseph – the sixth drop off his bowling in this match. The left-hander went on to score his 19th Test half-century at nearly a run a ball, after being 23 off 50.
Head and Webster also registered the match’s first century partnership – 102 runs in total – for the fifth wicket. Head, who scored a half century in the first innings, was eventually dismissed on 61 by a Joseph delivery which shot through and pinned him in front.
Webster was solid at the other end, unbeaten on 44 at the break and reaching his third half century at this level just after lunch, with a flash through the slip cordon which ran away for four.
After conceding several boundaries in his 20th over, Joseph bounced back to remove Webster on 63, who was caught down the leg side by wicketkeeper Shai Hope. (JC)
