While praising the progress of one of his charges yesterday, addiction counsellor Christopher Hanschell expressed concern about the harm which the lacing of marijuana with other substances is causing to drug users.
He was addressing the District “B” Magistrates’ Court at the Eric Holder Jnr Municipal Complex in St Joseph yesterday, as he informed Acting Magistrate Bernadeth John that Verdun House resident Mykael Archer was doing well and, at this stage, his recommendation was that he be released from the facility. The intention was also to assist him with finding work.
The 28-year-old Archer, who was in court accused of committing criminal damage, was on a good trajectory, Hanschell said. He said that as long as he kept away from former “people, places and things”, he should do well, even while continuing under Verdun House’s non-residential supervision for the next year or so.
The acting magistrate congratulated Archer and urged him to stay on the right path. (SD)
