Rotary Club launches ‘Tools for Tomorrow’ to support students in need

The Rotary Club of Barbados officially launched its Tools for Tomorrow initiative aimed at equipping students with essential school supplies to support their learning and development.

During the official handover ceremony, held with principals from Charles F Broome Primary, St Elizabeth Primary and Half Moon Fort Primary, the club described the project as a statement of hope and encouragement for students most in need.

“Education is not just about the lessons taught in classrooms; it’s about preparing our children with the tools they need to build a better tomorrow for themselves, their families, and Barbados as a whole,” said Katrina Alkins, director of community service of the Rotary Club of Barbados.

“Sometimes something as simple as a proper school bag, exercise books, or pencils can make all the difference in how a child approaches school and how confident they feel among their peers.”

Tools for Tomorrow was born out of Rotary’s commitment to service above self, with a focus on removing barriers that may hinder children from fully engaging in their education.

The Rotary Club also expressed appreciation for the role principals play in shaping the future of the nation.

“We thank our principals for their leadership, patience and commitment,” Katrina said. “Your work shapes not only young minds but also the character and future of our country.

This project is our way of standing beside you in the vital work you do every day.” (PR)
