The West Indies cricketers arrived in Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh on Wednesday night, where they will face the home team in six matches over the next two weeks. The Bangladesh team also returned home to their base on Wednesday night following a recent series against Afghanistan in Dubai.
Daren Sammy’s team will start the series on Saturday afternoon (3:30 a.m. Barbados Time) with the first One-Day International against the home team “ Tigers” — who are coached by Phil Simmons, the former West Indies player and head coach when the Windies won the famous T20 World Cup in 2016.
There will be no training on Thursday as the players have recovery sessions. Both teams will have full training sessions on Friday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.
West Indies flew over from Delhi in India where they lost the second Test against India at the iconic Arun Jaitley Stadium. They also lost the first Test at the huge Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad last week to go down 0-2 in the series.
Following the three ODIs in Dhaka, West Indies will then travel to the city of Chattogram where the two team will meet in three T20 Internationals at the renamed Bir Shrestha Shahid Flight Lieutenant Motiur Rahman Stadium. The teams will use this series as part of their preparations for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup which will be played in India and Sri Lanka in February and March next year.
