Odwin into final stage of LPGA qualifying

Emily Odwin continues to make history for Barbados.

The first golfer from her country to qualify for any major championship when she tied for 29th at the 2025 US Women’s Open at Erin Hills, Odwin is now into the final stage of qualifying for the LPGA Q School, the official qualifying pathway for earning membership on the prestigious Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) and Epson Tour.

Odwin shot a plus-2 74 in the opening round over the past week at Plantation Golf and Country Club in Venice, Florida, but bounced back big time with a minus-3 69 on the second day. She was minus-1 71 in the penultimate round, and closed out strong on Sunday with a minus-2 70, finishing four below par at 284 over four days and 72 holes of play.

She has now booked her passage to Final Qualifying, which will begin December 4, in Mobile, Alabama.

Odwin has represented Barbados in regional and international events since she was 11 years old.

In 2021 she became the first golfer from the Caribbean to qualify for both the US Golf Association (USGA) Girls Junior and the USGA Women’s Amateur Golf Championships.

A student-athlete at Southern Methodist University, she is no stranger to success.

In 2019, she won titles at the Royal Westmoreland Ladies Open, the Caribbean Amateur Junior Championships, and the HJGT Tournament of Champions.

From the 196 players who started this journey, most of them professional players, only the top 45 have advanced to the third and final stage, in the quest for an LPGA tour card.

Players have until November 14 to declare their professional status to be eligible to compete in the final Qualifying Stage in December.

Notables who missed the cut include Maria Fassi, Jennifer Song, Sarah Kemp, and Latanna Stone.
