Deacons Primary School has been cleared to reopen on Monday by the Ministry of Educational Transformation, following works over the weekend to bring the facility up to a suitable standard.
The school was forced to close last week Monday and Thursday following reports of vermin on the compound.
In a media release issued on Sunday, the Ministry of Educational Transformation said Director of the Education Technical Management Unit, Wayne Baker, confirmed that several upgrades had been carried out.
These included improvements to washrooms, the replacement of some classroom windows, the installation of mesh on the wrought-iron gates as recommended by the environmental unit, and industrial cleaning of the IT room, staff room, and classrooms where windows were replaced.
Baker has assured that upgrades will continue on weekends and throughout the Christmas break until all works are completed.
The Ministry of Educational Transformation said it will continue to communicate its plans with teachers, staff, parents, and the teachers’ unions throughout the process. (PR/BT)
