Deighton Griffith edge Ellerslie in League Two thriller

It was a thriller when Deighton Griffith Secondary School and The Ellerslie School faced off in the middle, with the former snatching a 2-1 win on Monday afternoon in the ongoing League Two Barbados Secondary Schools Football League.

One of the stronger teams in the competition, sitting in second position on 14 points behind Frederick Smith Secondary School (16 points), visitors Deighton Griffith’s dynamic duo of Kovanni Elibox-Greaves (12th) and Robinho King (80th) led their team to a hard-fought victory. The Ellerslie School’s lone goalscorer was Aidan Jordan.

Positioned in fourth place in the standings, Grantley Adams Memorial were held to a 4-4 draw when they met The St Michael School. Led by a brace from dangerman Roberto Spratt, Grantley Adams showed their competitiveness with a goal each from Kamari Holder and Dwayne Doughlin.

The St Michael School Cougars, following the effort of their top goalscorer and Headboy Ethan McCollin with two goals, along with one goal each from Shakobi Jordan and Darran Skeete, responded well.

It was another 4-4 entertaining thriller when the Barbados Vocational Training Board (BVTB) and Christ Church Foundation School (CCFS) battled. Despite a hat-trick from Jamarco Reece for BVTB and a goal added by Ethan Rollins, CCFS matched their intensity in the attacking third with a brace from Jayfen Rowe and a goal each compliments of Keyari Neptune and Nicholas Olton.

The Lester Vaughan Secondary School turned up the offensive heat with a 6-1 thrashing of Graydon Sealy Secondary School (GSSS). Doing the damage for Lester Vaughan were Dimiko Jordan, Rajae Thompson, and Troyell Downes, each scoring two goals. Lamar Forde scored the lone goal for GSSS.

All it took was one goal, scored by Demarco Greenidge, for Coleridge and Parry to defeat Princess Margaret Secondary School, 1-0.

Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic Institute (SJPI) defeated The Lodge School 2-0. Ajani Payne, with a penalty strike, and Ramiro Dunner, with a regular-time goal, sealed it for SJPI.

Alexandra School got the best of Harrison College 3-0, thanks to Jaylen Gibson, Tashawn Nurse, and Darelle Pilgrim, each accounting for a goal.
