Barbados Netball Association president to demit office next month

Dr Carmeta Doughlin is set to step down as president of the Barbados Netball Association (BNA).

The long-serving sports administrator, who has led the organisation for the past three years, announced her decision to demit office this morning.

In a letter to BNA members, Dr Doughlin stated that she will officially vacate the position on December 10, during the Association’s annual general meeting at the Wildey Gymnasium.

“As President of the Barbados Netball Association Inc., I have worked tirelessly and given my all in a full time capacity over the last three years. There were many times I had to fill in for persons who were either sick or unavailable to fulfil their duties. As a board we also took on a lot of activities which were very time consuming. I have therefore decided that I will be vacating the post of President,” she told members.

Doughlin added, “I feel satisfied that I have given three years even though because the by-laws came into effect in January 2024, it was agreed that the period would end in December 2026 for the president, but I have decided to leave at the end of my three years.”

A notice of the meeting is expected to be circulated 30 days prior to the AGM.
