RBC Capital Markets’ 11th annual Charity Day took place on Tuesday under the theme Powered by Purpose, United for Kids. The global initiative unites colleagues to support organisations that advance RBC’s mission of improving the lives of children and strengthening communities.
For Charity Day 2025, RBC will donate US$7 million to more than 70 youth-focused organisations across 13 countries, empowering programmes that build brighter futures and stronger communities.
The Capital Markets team located in Limegrove, Holetown, partnered with the Cancer Society whose trademark is the multi-faceted approach towards cancer prevention, detection care and wellness, as its 2025 Charity recipient.
Their donation of US$50 000 will go distinctly towards the treatment of childhood cancers. Tanya Tempro who made the presentation on behalf of RBC Capital Markets said, “This is a day to deepen our connection with non-profit organisations, highlighting the impact of our collective efforts and engaging in activities that reflect our purpose of helping our clients thrive and communities prosper.”
She further noted that treating childhood cancers requires individualised, multimodal treatment plans, specialised training and most of all compassionate and dedicated approaches to the care of the children and their families.
Dr Greg Padmore upon receiving this donation on behalf of the Cancer Society said, “The children’s programme supports all families impacted by childhood cancer and in particular those families who experience economic hardship. The Society helps in providing financial assistance to help cover the cost of medical and diagnostic testing and treatment-related costs.
“A free transportation service to hospital appointments is also provided, and assistance is given to help with the nutritional and educational needs of children returning to school. Covering the cost of medication and assisting with expenses for overseas travel for treatment are critical areas in which the Society also provides assistance.
“Over the years the Society has been a constant supporter of the Children’s Ward at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital providing large and small electrical appliances including televisions, stoves, microwave ovens, kettles and fans. Several books, games and toys have been donated to the play room and the haematology out-patient clinic where the children are seen by the paediatric consultant.”
He thanked the RBC Capital Markets team for partnering to make their work with families impacted by childhood cancers easier.
