Health officials warn against improper use of some water products

The Ministry of Health and Wellness is warning the public that some water products currently being marketed as deionised and distilled cannot be guaranteed as safe for domestic or medical use.

In a statement issued recently,  the ministry said recent assessments revealed that several products labelled “distilled” or “deionised” do not meet the required health standards.

As a result, the public is being strongly advised to use these products only for the purposes stated on their labels, and not for household consumption or personal use.

Health officials also reminded medical and clinical facilities that some of these products are not suitable for clinical procedures, as their safety and quality for health-care use cannot be assured.

For further guidance, members of the public may contact the Environmental Health Department at 536-3854 or 536-3855.
