Healthy Lifestyle, Healthy Minds: Ellerton Primary hosts 5K Health Walk

Students at Ellerton Primary School stepped out for fitness and fun on Friday during a 5K Health Walk aimed at promoting healthy living and environmental awareness.
Fifty students from Nursery to Class 4 joined ten staff members and three parents on the walk, which began at 9:45 a.m. and lasted one hour and 16 minutes. The route took participants through Ellerton, Brighton, Carmichael, Turnpike, Eastlyn Hill and Good Intent before returning to the school.
Principal Karen Sealy-Cox said the initiative was designed to encourage children to walk more while learning about their surroundings.
Officials said that by the time the group exited Eastlyn Hill and Good Intent, several students were energized on seeing their school come back into view, noting that one child even asked the principal, “Can we go around again?”
Students were reminded about the health benefits of daily walking and encouraged to make physical activity part of their routine. Three officers from the Barbados Police Service accompanied the group and ensured everyone’s safety along the route.
