Cheered on by a crowd of well in excess of one thousand supporters and students, Lynch House clinched the title, as Christ Church Foundation staged their interhouse sports at Church Hill on Tuesday.
Lynch ended the night on 806.5 points, well clear of Inniss on 766 in second, with Wellington third on 716. Fourth-placed Talma had 554 points, with defending champions Skeete House fifth on 498.5 points.
The Junior Victrix Ludorum was Jendaya Burke of Skeete House, with Razziq Prescod of Talma securing the Junior Victor Ludorum title. Alyssa Weekes of Wellington was crowned senior Victrix Ludorum and Rashawn Holder of Talma the senior Victor Ludorum.
Physical Education teacher Siebert Straughn hailed the meet as an overwhelming success.
“I was really pleased; it was a very competitive day, but the important thing is to get out of this meet injury free, as we head toward the BSSAC Championships in the coming weeks. This is the fourth year we would have staged a day-night meet and I am sure you would have seen the improvements in infrastructure we made.”
While thanking the event’s sponsors, including Dasani, Dr. Adrian Lorde and the Barbados Olympic Association, Straughn encouraged corporate Barbados to support similar events.
“When you get involved in supporting any school, you are supporting young people and you know right now our young people are at a very delicate stage. They need all the help and encouragement they can get.”
In related news, Yellow Yetis took the title as Providence Secondary School staged their interhouse sports on Wednesday. After finishing on 757 points, they narrowly edged out Red Ravens, who amassed 752 points, with Green Giants third on 750.5.
