Frederick remanded over aggravated burglary with firearm charges

A 28-year-old man with no fixed address has been remanded to Dodds Prison until next month after being charged with use of a firearm and aggravated burglary.

Turvy Johnathan Frederick was not required to plead when he appeared in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court No. 2 on Monday.

He is accused of entering Bhamjee’s Trading as a trespasser and stealing $19 000 in cash, a quantity of cheques of unknown value belonging to the business, and a mobile phone valued at $1 400 belonging to Ahmed Raja. He is also accused of using a firearm, by brandishing it while committing the indictable offence of aggravated burglary.

The offences are alleged to have taken place on January 14.

The case was transferred to the No. 1 District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court, where Frederick will reappear on March 23.

Defence counsel Justin Leacock represents the accused.
