Back-to-back titles for The St Michael School

The St Michael School dominated and dismissed all competition to secure back-to-back titles in the girls’ section of the Dasani Barbados Secondary Schools’ Athletics Championships at the Usain Bolt Sports Complex.

Long before the final event, St Michael had taken an unassailable lead to end with 357 points, a full 120 ahead of Harrison College. Combermere School (197.5), Springer Memorial School (181) and Christ Church Foundation with 15, made up the top five. Queen’s College were not far behind on 171.

Completing the final tally of points: Alexandra School 125.5, The Lodge School 113.5, Coleridge and Parry School 105, Alleyne School 87, Princess Margaret Secondary 40, Frederick Smith Secondary 36, The Ellerslie School 27, St George Secondary 22.5, The Lester Vaughan School 17, Daryll Jordan Secondary 17 Grantley Adams Memorial 12, Graydon Sealy Secondary 8 Parkinson Memorial 7, Providence Secondary 7, Deighton Griffith Secondary 6, St Winifred’s School 2.

Hayley Merritt of Harrison College claimed the victrix ludorum title with 36 points. Competing in the Under-girls’ division, she won the long jump, high jump and triple jump and was third in the 100m hurdles.

Under-13 Girls Champion: Blake Carrington (The St Michael School) 35 points 

Under-15 Girls Champion: Cuzara Batson (Harrison College) 22

Under-17 Girls Champion: Haley Merritt (Harrison College) 36

Under-20 Girls Champion: Aniya Nurse (The St Michael School) 30
