Roger Rommel Stephen Sealy yesterday argued that the judge who sentenced him to eight years for three firearmrelated offences was biased against him and lacked impartiality.

However, Principal State Counsel Joyann Catwell denied this, saying the convicted gunman had not provided any evidence to back up his arguments and his sentence had “fallen short” of the maximum time the judge could have imposed.
The arguments were heard as Sealy appealed his sentences as excessive in the Court of Appeal yesterday.
Sealy, of Scotts Gap, Brittons Hill, St Michael, had pleaded guilty to having a Taurus 9mm Luger pistol, as well as 11 bullets on October 7, 2022; that being in lawful custody, having been arrested for possession of a firearm and ammunition, he escaped without the use of force, on October 8, 2022 and that he had six rounds of ammunition on October 13, 2022.
