Man remanded on theft, traffic charges

A 25-year-old Christ Church man has been remanded to prison after appearing in court on a string of theft and traffic-related offences.

Nathan Emmanuel Malik Lovell of Inch Marlow was arrested and formally charged by the Barbados Police Service with several offences committed between April 21 and April 25, including theft of a motor van valued at $52,000, theft involving property valued at $12,340, possession of apparatus, and theft of use.

He was also charged with overtaking improperly, failing to stop after an accident, driving without third-party insurance, and driving without a valid driver’s licence.

Lovell appeared before Chief Magistrate Douglas Frederick in the District ‘A’ Criminal Court No. 1 on Monday, May 4. He was not required to plead to the indictable offences and was remanded to the Barbados Prison Service at Dodds.

The matters have been transferred to the District ‘A’ Traffic Court for June 1.
