Two men accused in separate fraud cases involving forged cheques have been granted bail and will appear in the Traffic Court in September.
Romano Terry Lynch, 26, a labourer of Perry Gap, Roebuck Street, St Michael appeared before the No. 1 District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court accused of forging a Republic Bank cheque payable to him for $3 000 and drawn on the account of the National Insurance and Social Security Service (NISSS). He is also charged with endeavouring to obtain the funds from Republic Bank with the forged cheque. The offences allegedly occurred on May 7.
Lynch, who was represented by attorney Michael Carrington, was not required to plead to the indictable charges and was released on $3 000 bail.
Omesh Budhu, 46, a tradesman of Quarry Road, Bank Hall, St Michael, is also accused of forging a Republic Bank cheque drawn on the account of the NISSS made payable to Carlos Singh for $3 000, and endeavouring to obtain the cash from Republic Bank, also last Thursday.
Budhu is also charged with impersonating Carlos Singh by presenting to Republic Bank a Barbados identification card in Singh’s name purporting to be a genuine ID card issued by the Electoral and Boundaries Commission, in a bid to obtain the funds with the forged cheque.
All of the offences are indictable and no plea was taken. Budhu was released on $5 000 bail.
