Women’s rugby returns to the Garrison Savannah on Saturday as four teams take the field in a major step towards the continued development of the sport in Barbados.
Following the recent outings of the national men’s XVs team, the spotlight now shifts to the women’s game, with the Barbados Rugby Football Union aiming to build momentum and expand female participation.
Scorpions, Phoenix, Pride and Pelicans will all be in action from 3 p.m. in an event organisers have described as “a new stage of rugby in Barbados.”
Scorpions will open the programme against Pelicans, while Phoenix face Pride in the day’s other fixture.
The national men’s team recently recorded mixed results in matches against St Vincent and the Grenadines, Guyana and the Cayman Islands.
