The Barbados Police Service has announced the appointment of two Deputy Commissioners of Police and three Assistant Commissioners of Police, effective today.
Barry Hunte and Adrian Broomes have been appointed Deputy Commissioners of Police, while Stephen Herbert, David Welch and John Boyce have been appointed Assistant Commissioners.
The appointments come as the Service continues efforts to strengthen its senior leadership, enhance public confidence and advance its operational priorities.
Deputy Commissioner Hunte most recently held responsibility for special operations and management services and previously served as Head of Special Branch. Deputy Commissioner Broomes has held key leadership roles in disaster response and coordination and is currently enrolled in the College of Policing Executive Leaders Programme in the United Kingdom.
Assistant Commissioner Herbert is responsible for Human Resources and Administration, while Assistant Commissioner Welch oversees change management and technology services. Assistant Commissioner John Boyce has served at senior command level with responsibility for crime.
Commissioner of Police Sonia Boyce congratulated the officers on their appointments.
“I extend heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Hunte, Mr. Broomes, Mr. Herbert, Mr. Welch and Mr. Boyce on their appointments to the senior command team of The Barbados Police Service. Each of these officers has demonstrated commitment, professionalism and dedication to duty over many years of service. Their collective experience, leadership and institutional knowledge will be invaluable as we continue to build a modern, responsive and trusted police service for the people of Barbados,” she said.
