Barbados will be represented by a 37-member swimming team at the 30th Annual Goodwill Swimming Championships in Trinidad and Tobago.
The Barbados Aquatic Sports Association (BASA) unveiled the squad ahead of the championships which take place from 14–16.
BASA President Glyne Harrison said earning selection to the national team represents a major achievement in the development of each athlete’s swimming career.
“To earn the opportunity to represent Barbados is a tremendous achievement and one that reflects the commitment, perseverance and determination shown by these young athletes in this demanding sport.
“Wearing the Barbados colours is both an honour and a responsibility, and I have every confidence that Team Barbados will represent our country with pride, discipline and sportsmanship,” he said.
BASA’s VP-Swimming, Sharon Small, also paid tribute to the families, coaches, and clubs whose unwavering support has helped shape the athletes’ development. “The success of our athletes is built upon the dedication of many people. I extend my sincere appreciation to the parents, guardians, coaches, clubs and volunteers who continue to invest their time, energy and encouragement in the development of these young swimmers. Their contribution is fundamental to the continued success of our sport.”
Leading the delegation will be head coach Jefferson Greenidge, assisted by Akilah Lashley and Tamara Patrick. Stacey N. Blunte has been appointed as team manager, while the association has named Amiya Harrison and Walton Yarbrough as team captains.
