Player of the match Stafanie Taylor became the second West Indies Women’s player to score back to back one day international centuries, as the regional side secured a 64-run win over Ireland at Bready on Wednesday.
That result also completed a 3-0 series sweep for the visitors, as Taylor followed closely in the footsteps of captain Hayley Matthews, who scored consecutive centuries in the opening two games.
Chasing 258 for victory, Ireland slipped from 81 for one after 18 overs to 193 all out in 44 overs, with Karishma Ramharack and Afy Fletcher both taking three for 33. Matthews added two for 37 as the hosts lost their final four wickets for just 35 runs.
Mathews scored a total of 265 runs, while taking seven wickets, as she was named player of the series.
For Ireland, Gaby Lewis top scored with 50, while Leah Paul added 32 and Amy Hunter 30.
Earlier Taylor was run out off the final ball of the West Indies innings for 105. Her knock came from 113 deliveries and featured 10 fours.
Stabilising the innings after the early dismissal of Matthews for six in the third over, Taylor remained fluent while the other top order batters struggled, with West Indies wobbling to 82 for five, following the dismissal of Deandra Dottin for 21 in 19 overs.
Taylor got good support down the order from Jahzara Claxton, who added 30 from 43 deliveries and Aaliyah Alleyne who chipped in with a quickfire 33 from 30 balls, including six boundaries.
Beginning the final over on 90, Taylor smashed Georgina Dempsey for back to back boundaries, before running two off the third ball to complete her milestone.
For Ireland, Orla Prendergast took two for 37, Jane Maguire two for 44 and Georgina Dempsey two for 61.
