Christopher O’Brien Harris, of Thornbury Hill and Lower Carter’s Gap, Christ Church, has been convicted of indecently assaulting a 12-year-old girl four years ago.
He had denied committing the act on July 13, 2022, but last Tuesday, a Supreme Court No. 4A jury, after deliberating for one hour and 55 minutes, reached a unanimous guilty verdict.
During the trial, the court heard from the now 16-year-old complainant that she was at home that day and all the working members of her family had already gone off to work.
Harris entered the house and while she sat at a table, he came up behind her, squeezed her right breast and started sliding his hand down towards her private parts. She pushed it away so he did not get the chance to touch them.
However, Harris said he gave the girl “a quick hug” around her neck.
Attorney Dennis Headley represented Harris, while Senior State Counsel Kevin Forde prosecuted.
Sentencing submissions are expected to be heard on September 23 before Justice Donna Babb-Agard. Harris continues on bail until then.
