Organisers of the Barbados Road Tennis Open have announced that the official competition draw, completed on Wednesday, August 5, has been scrapped due to a technical error.
As a result, a new draw will be held on Friday, August 7 at the Ministry of
Sports and Community Empowerment’s Haggatt Hall offices.
According to Chairman of the BRTO Planning Committee Shawn Burke, an error while inputting information into the computer system, led to the incorrect seeding of several players during the initial draw, which was held during the tournament’s launch.
He says the BRTO has therefore decided that it is in the best interest of all concerned to conduct a new draw.
The BRTO Planning Committee chairman apologised for the inconvenience caused, adding that the new draw will include only those persons who were registered by the July 31 deadline.
Shakeem Nurse is the defending men’s champion, while Sheldene
Walrond won the women’s title in 2025.
