Organisers are pleased with the growth of the Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association’s Adopt-A-School Futsal Tournament, which has attracted 24 teams this year, eight more than its inaugural staging.
BHTA Special Projects Manager Tessalee Moore said the tournament, being played at The Oasis in Kendall Hill, Christ Church, has maintained a high level of competition and camaraderie through its second weekend.

“The tournament has maintained a high level of energy, competitiveness and camaraderie from last year to this point. The support from the teams has also been encouraging, and the association is very pleased with the progression of the tournament to date.
“The standard of competition has definitely increased compared to last year. With the increase in the number of participating teams, the level of play has been impressive,” Moore added.
“I think last year set a good benchmark and standard, so teams have come better prepared for the competition. We have seen some very close matches and a few surprises, which has made the tournament even more exciting.”
According to Moore, feedback from the teams has also been positive. She said they enjoy the opportunity to come together outside of the workplace and decompress.
“The players also enjoy the fact that by their participation, they are contributing to a greater cause, which supports student and educational development across Barbados.”
In Saturday’s action, St James Travel & Tours, Sunlinc, Five Star Fast Track defeated Apes Hill United 3-0, Hilton Barbados Resort edged Barbados Yacht Club 2-1 and Hotel Indigo blanked Montrose Holdings Limited 3-0.
Wyndham Grand Barbados and The Mango Bay Group played out a goalless draw, Barbados Conference Services Limited dismissed The Crane 5-2, while no goals were scored in the game between Oasis All Stars and Grantley Adams International Airport.
On Sunday, Coral Reef Club cruised to a 3-0 victory over Barbados Port Inc, Harbour Lights, CK, UVA were edged 3-2 by Aventa Ltd and Caribbean Aircraft Handling completed a 4-2 win over BHTA, NSC.
Accra Beach Hotel & Spa & The Abidah by Accra were held to a goalless draw by The Club Barbados Resort, Ocean Hotels defeated The Sandpiper 2-1, while Barbados Marriott Collection had a similar margin of victory over Foster & Ince, Tiami Catamaran Cruises.
