Estwick elected DLP president

Former Cabinet Minister Dr David Estwick is the new president of the Democratic Labour Party (DLP).

Estwick, one of the members of the “old guard” who held the ministerial portfolios of Agriculture and Economic Affairs during the 2010-2018 Freundel Stuart administration, was declared the winner of the presidential elections held during the party’s 71st Annual General Conference at the DLP’s George Street headquarters on Saturday night.

Estwick garnered 217 votes to Stephen Lashley’s 136 to claim victory and the mandate to lead the party into the next general election, constitutionally due in 2031.

Lashley, also from the “old guard”, is a former minister of youth, culture and sport.

Estwick is scheduled to address the party’s final day on Sunday.
