In a historic moment for Limacol Women’s Caribbean Premier League (WCPL), the Guyana Amazon Warriors (GAW) emerged victorious against the Barbados Tridents for the first time in the tournament’s history, with a thrilling five-wicket win yesterday afternoon at Kensington Oval.
This was the final match of the league phase, with both teams vying for a significant margin of victory to surpass the table-toppers, the Trinbago Knight Riders.
However, neither team could achieve this feat.
Despite the setback, both the Warriors and Tridents secured their spots in the play-off match and will face off again on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the same venue.
The winner of that match will advance to the final, where they will face the Knight Riders on September 17.
