Miguel Bobb-Blackman, who is on trial on firearm and ammunition charges, told the No. 4 Supreme Court that he never possessed the bag in which a Ruger .45-calibre pistol was allegedly found last year.
In an unsworn statement from the dock, the 24-year-old, of Spruce Street, The City, said: “The only bag I had was my one strap bag with my weed, wrappers, fanta and money.”
“There were other people out there, and two ran in the same backyard. I did not have that bag, and I did not throw it in the yard, and I do not have any convictions.”
Bobb-Blackman has pleaded not guilty to illegally possessing the pistol and four rounds of ammunition on June 12, 2025.
During cross-examination, before the State closed its case, PC Kevin Jordan told the court that Bobb-Blackman was sitting when he arrived at the scene. As Jordan walked through the alley, Bobb-Blackman appeared to look in his direction and then began to run. This raised the officer’s suspicions and prompted him to give chase.
PC Jordan denied suggestions that several other people in the vicinity also ran and that the accused was wearing a black bag.
The constable said he searched Bobb-Blackman after apprehending him but did not record the search in his statement because he found nothing illegal.
“A search where nothing illegal was found on a person is not significant, so I would not make a note of that,” he said.
The officer testified that his colleague, who was on duty with him at the time, had told Bobb-Blackman that he had seen him throw a bag over a fence.
The trial continues on Monday.
