Damarco Najae Morris will be sentenced in the new year for touching a woman on her backside twice.
Morris, 25, of Block 11A Factory Avenue, Wildey, St Michael, pleaded guilty to indecently assaulting a 21-year-old woman on October 5, when Acting Magistrate Shakieda Sealy read the charge to him in the District “A” Traffic Court on Wednesday.
The details of the case, which Sergeant Kenmore Phillips outlined, were that the complainant and Morris knew each other. At the time of the incident she was at home alone, when around 1 p.m. she heard someone call her name. She looked out and saw Morris who asked for a cup of water. She went to the kitchen for it and handed it to him.
She returned to the kitchen to continue eating but after a few more moments, she felt someone touch her buttocks. She looked around and saw Morris, who had opened the door and entered when she returned to the kitchen.
She immediately shouted asking him: “What the f*** you doing in here?”
Morris responded by laughing and touching her behind a second time. She ordered him to leave, which he did, and she then called her mother and later reported the matter to the police.
Prosecutor Phillips told the court that Morris had no criminal record and had already been assessed by personnel at the Psychiatric Hospital, who determined he had suffered a mental breakdown.
His attorney Reco Blackman applied for bail, which was granted at $10 000. The matter was adjourned until January 7, 2027 and until then, Morris must stay away from the complainant’s house. If he sees her out in public, he must stay 100 metres away from her. (SD)
