Ten years ago, a home-grown Barbadian financial services company broke new ground in the payments industry. Today, Payce Digital stands as a testament to the power of innovation, customer trust and the determination to think beyond traditional boundaries.
In September 2016, Cave Shepherd Card (Barbados) Inc., trading as Payce Digital, became the first non-bank financial institution in the English-speaking Latin America and Caribbean region to receive a Visa Principal Issuer Member Licence. That milestone helped transform a familiar store card into a globally accepted Visa credit card and laid the foundation for a broader digital financial services offering.
A decade later, the transformation is reflected in more than technology. Payce Digital has expanded its portfolio, strengthened strategic partnerships, introduced convenient digital payment services and built a community of more than 30 000 cardholders. Its growth has been supported by a focus on responsible lending, competitive pricing and customer service, alongside a commitment to making financial services more accessible.
This special anniversary feature explores the people, decisions and innovations behind that journey. Through the perspectives of its leaders and team members, it examines the company’s financial growth, the evolution of credit and customer care, and the marketing and partnerships that have strengthened its brand.
As Payce Digital celebrates its first decade, its next chapter looks beyond Barbados, with regional ambitions and a continued commitment to creating value for customers.
