FLOW’s broadband and bundled service price increases of up to $10 will take effect from November 1 for some customers, the Fair Trading Commission (FTC) has confirmed.
In a public notice, the Commission clarified that a circulating message claiming the increases had been postponed until February 1, 2027, was not an official communication from FLOW.
The increases will be introduced in phases, with some packages also receiving additional bandwidth.
The FTC said it had no legal authority to regulate broadband prices or prevent the increases, but had challenged a contractual term requiring customers to give written notice of cancellation within 20 days, despite receiving 30 days’ notice of the changes.
The Commission has advised FLOW that customers must be allowed to terminate their contracts without penalty at any point during the full 30-day notification period, whether in writing, in person or through another accepted channel.
It has also directed the telecommunications provider to establish an accessible cancellation process and provide written acknowledgement of termination requests.
The FTC said customers would still be required to pay for services already received or other amounts lawfully owed.
Consumers who notice an increase in their bills without having received prior notification are encouraged to contact the Commission at 424-0260 or info@ftc.gov.bb.
The FTC said it would continue monitoring FLOW’s implementation of the changes.
