Barbadian jockey Rocco Bowen recorded a major moment in his career when he landed his first win at one of the world’s most famous racetracks.
He was aboard Call Me Rosie in a stunning run-away victory in Race 6 of the eight-race card at the prestigious Belmont Park race track in New York, yesterday afternoon.
It was a six-furlong US$56 000 Stakes race and Bowen stood tall as he led the winner home by three lengths.
As they approached the top of the stretch, Call Me Rosie was in second spot and Bowen found room on the inside to challenge the leader.
With a quarter-mile to go, Call Me Rosie pounced and pushed forward in the final furlong, and then made a strong finish to run away from her eight rivals in the final stage of the race.
