Kiserian Adamas had a game winning performance on Sunday night, lifting the C.A.M Smart Assurance City United Celtics over the defending champions, Burger King Clapham Bulls, 94-91.
Playing in front of a packed Barbados Community College (BCC) in the Cooperators General Insurance, Barbados Amateur Basketball Association (BABA) Premier League, the talented forward scored 11 of his game-high 33 points in the fourth quarter. Adams added 12 rebounds to his effort and had good support from Joel Hunte, who had also had a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Theo Greenidge added 12 points.
The matchup was close and the undefeated Celtics held a six-point lead (26-20) over the Bulls after the first period ended. Clapham rallied to lead 48-47 at halftime and there was not much between the two sides by the end of the third (61-60). Adams put on a clinic in the fourth, scoring mid-range and long range shots to keep the points flowing for United.
Rahiim Gibbons hit a jumper from the three-point line with 21 seconds remaining (93-91) but the Bulls had to foul to stop the clock. Deroni Hurley of the Celtics scored a free throw to give his team a three-point lead (94-91) with the clock on 13 seconds but Simeon Maynard missed a game tying three at the other end as the clock wound down.
