Archer bags 6 wickets to lead Wildey to Win

Jofra Archer picked up 11 wickets in the game as he guided Wildey to a comfortable innings and 122 run victory over ESA Field Pickwick at the SJPIT grounds early Sunday afternoon on the final day of the fifth series of games in the Barbados Cricket Association elite three-day competition.

Resuming the day on 112 for 7, Pickwick lost their final three wickets while only adding fivw runs on the day with Archer picking up all three wickets to fall. Following up his first innings five-wicket haul, Archer bowled 12.3 overs in the second innings as he took six wickets for 25 runs to finish the game with an 11 wicket haul.

Wildey secured a maximum 20 points from the game to move themselves from the bottom of the table on 29 points to fourth position on 49 points.

They will take on Yorkshire who currently stand in third position on 52 points in the sixth series at the SJPIT grounds.

Scores: Wildey beat ESA Field Pickwick by an innings and 122 runs.

At Friendship:

Shaqkere Parris and Amari Goodridge both scored centuries in a 214 run partnership which took only 25 overs for the University of West Indies (UWI) team against IGS Insurance Brokers Yorkshire.

Although the game played out to a draw, the pair put on a hitting display as Parris top scored with 150 in 112 balls which included 12 fours and eight sixes, Goodridge, not to be left out, scored his 107 in 75 balls with four fours and 11 sixes. Romario Greaves also played a quick-fire unbeaten knock of 41 in 27 balls as UWI declared on 314 for five.

Amari Goodridge showed his ability with the bat, scoring 107 vs Yorkshire.

Needing an improbable 263 runs for victory, Yorkshire were 72 for 1 from 11 overs before play was called off early by the two captains.

UWI are still positioned in line for demotion, tied with YMPC on 37 points, as they will have a tough battle in the sixth series of games against the table toppers Wanderers who stand on 62 points.

At Beckles Road:

Wanderers and Bayview Hospital YMPC played to an exciting draw as light faded on any chances of victory for either team.

Due to the overnight rain and the bowling run-ups being wet, play began almost three hours after the scheduled start time. YMPC resumed on 12/0 and were quickly on the back-foot by some steady bowling from fast bowler Kyron King (2-10) and off spinner Ian Boyce (3-20). They only managed to bat 30 overs as they were bowled out 105.

Wanderers had all intentions of chasing the total of 102 for a win late in the evening but with fading light and losing early wickets the game played out to a draw. They managed 31 for three in 5.4 overs before play was called off.

Wanderers claimed nine points from the game to stay at the top of the table with 62 points which is four points clear of second placed Empire who had no play today vs Spartan because of wet conditions.
