The Barbados Amateur Basketball Association (BABA) is set to resume its Premier League Finals after a 12-week break, with defending champions Burger King Clapham Bulls ready to put their title on the line.
BABA President Francis Williams has thanked players, teams and stakeholders for their patience as the association prepares for the highly anticipated restart.
The finals will tip off on January 20, with Clapham Bulls facing C.A.M. Smart Assurance City United Celtics in the championship showdown.
The season was delayed due to venue challenges earlier in the year before play was paused again to allow Barbados’ national team to prepare for the FIBA AmeriCup 2029 Caribbean Pre-Qualifiers in Guyana.
Following a successful campaign, Barbados played unbeaten to top Group B and advance to the next round of qualifying in November.
The Barbados Community College will host all the games in the upcoming best-of-five series, which is expected to feature thrilling play between Bulls who are the two-time defending champions, while Celtics won this year’s President’s Cup.
Williams welcomed the return of the domestic competition and took the opportunity to congratulate the national team and coaching staff, following its success in Guyana.
“With that behind us, we now turn our attention back to our domestic championship and look forward to a finals series that showcases
the very best of Barbadian basketball,” he said.
The finals games will be preceded by encounters between the fifth-placed Premier League team, Island Care Ambulance Service & BodyxB Lakers and Division One winners, C.A.M. Smart Assurance Heat, to determine who will secure the final spot in a new six-team Premier League competition next year.
