The Barbados men’s XVs thumped Guyana 21-3 under the floodlights at the Historic Garrison Savannah on Saturday.
The Green Machines got off to a quick start with a penalty try from Tyrese Prescod as Guyana employed a vigorous, physical game, exploiting the slightest error by the Bajan team.
The gusty winds made kicking a huge gamble, but both teams kept up the pressure, with Barbados’ Nicholas Daniel scoring the first try 16 minutes into the match to give his side a 5-3 lead.

An infringement by Guyana saw Barbados’ D’Andre Phillips score a penalty to extend their lead to 8-3, where it stayed until half-time.
Despite some determined offensive drives by both teams, neither side managed to score. Even when Guyana incurred two yellow cards, the gusty winds frustrated the penalty kicks.
Barbados further extended their lead to 11-3 via a penalty kick after Guyana’s Renaldo Niles was sent off in the 67th minute.
Sean Ward then scored a try for the home side, but windy conditions frustrated the conversion attempt, leaving the score at 16-3.
Substitute Daniel Ramsay came on in the 76th minute and sealed the Barbados victory with a try four minutes later, taking the final score to 21-3.
This result marks the second time in two years that Barbados has defeated Guyana. Last year Barbados recorded an impressive 45–5 victory over the Green Machine.
While less dramatic than the 2025 result, this victory propels Barbados up to number 59 in the World Rugby Men’s standings.
