Batters dominated Series 9 of the 2025 Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) Elite Division three-day competition, producing a run-fest that saw four players reach centuries, while another batsman was left stranded on 96 overnight after the second day’s play.
Following 148 from Empire’s Shian Brathwaite versus ESA Field Pickwick on Day 1, Joshua Morris scored a century for Wanderers while Joshua Dorne and Demetrius Richards put the Champions Wildey in a commanding position with quality innings of their own. University of the West Indies (UWI) explosive batter, Zion Brathwaite, is also eyeing a century as he stands on 96 not out overnight.
Led by a brilliant 106 from opening batsman Joshua Morris, Wanderers reached 275 for nine declared against Sagicor Windward at the Lucas Street grounds on Saturday.
Resuming the day on 34, Morris faced a total of 141 balls while striking 12 fours and one six as he brought up his ton immediately after the lunch interval. He was well supported throughout the innings with knocks of 41 from Jared Lovell and 37 from fellow opener Shayne Mosely.
Wanderers led overall by 116 on first innings after Windward were bowled out on Day 1 for 159. Maxwell Lewis took four wickets for 31 runs with his leg spin while off spinner Khomari Griffith picked up three for 55.

West Indies U19 batsman Joshua Dorne batted brilliantly for 144 balls to record a top score of 127 while teammate Demitrius Richards scored an even 100 off 147 balls. The pair added 217 for the second wicket to lead Wildey to a mammoth total of 356/6 declared against Urgent Care Bayview Hospital YMPC at the Dash Valley playing field.
Richards showed his ability to run between the wickets as he only scored four fours and two sixes during his knock, while Dorne showed his knack of keeping the ball on the ground with ten fours and zero sixes.
Support also came in the latter part of the innings as Nimar Bolden scored 58 in 67 balls while Deswin Currency remained unbeaten on 39 before the declaration came.
Having clinched the title on Day 1, Wildey declared their innings with a lead of 262 runs as they try to set up victory early on Day 3. YMPC currently stand on 27 for 2.

In a turn of events to begin Day 2, ESA Field Pickwick were able to take the final three wickets without conceding a run as Empire were bowled out from their overnight total of 247.
Craig Holder was the main wrecker when he claimed the final three wickets to close the innings. Pickwick would have been disappointed with their batting display on their home turf, only managing 103 before being bowled out.
