In the wee hours of yesterday, around 3 a.m., residents of an apartment complex in Wanstead, St James, were awoken by the sound of an electrical saw on the outside.
To the dismay of the four adults and two minors there, it was not a carpenter at work, but two masked gunmen trying to enter the locked front door.
According to the occupants, it took roughly a minute for the bandits to enter the premises, after making two precision cuts in the wooden door, followed by a swift kick to dislodge the separated area. One of the assailants then slithered his hand around the back of the door, where his fingers found the keys in the lock. After gaining entry, the pair quickly rounded up the residents, demanding money.
One of the victims, a 32-year-old man, received several blows about the head from the butt of the gun.
“The noise jump me up. I hear the saw; it was very loud. I got up and put on my pants and as soon as I got up, the door kick . . . and the gun was in my face.”
The man, who eventually had to seek medical attention at a nearby facility, said the culprits demanded: “Where the money? We get send here. Where the money is?”
