The Barbados Meteorological Services (BMS) continues to closely monitor a tropical wave in the central Atlantic.
The system is currently located near 49W, approximately 1,300 kilometres (810 miles) east of Barbados as of 4:00 p.m. today.
Based on its present trajectory, the system is expected to affect Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean from Thursday, 21st August into Friday, 22nd August.
In addition, a second tropical wave in the eastern Atlantic is showing an area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms. This system, however, is considered to have minimal potential for development over the coming days.
The BMS confirmed that there are no watches or warnings in effect for Barbados associated with either system at this time.
Convective activity from the main tropical wave is forecast to move across the island, bringing a mix of sunshine and clouds along with intermittent scattered light to moderate showers. Residents are advised to monitor daily weather forecasts and follow guidance from the Department of Emergency Management (DEM).
Meteorologists noted that the broad tropical wave in the central Atlantic remains disorganized, but model guidance suggests that wet conditions are likely for Barbados during and following its passage on Thursday and Friday.
