Twenty-seven outstanding staff members of the Central Bank of Barbados (CBB) were honoured on Saturday night during the institution’s annual Staff Awards Gala held at the Wyndham Grand Barbados Sam Lord’s Castle.
Under the theme Legacy of Excellence – Resilience, Reflection and Renewal, the event celebrated employees who have dedicated between five and 40 years of service to the bank.

The evening’s top honour, the Governor’s Award, was presented to the Corporate Communications team of the Communications, Information and Outreach Department.
Governor of the CBB, Dr Kevin Greenidge, applauded the contributions of all awardees, noting their significant role in shaping the institution.
“Each of you special awardees has elevated our standards and inspired those around you.”
He said they had provided exceptional contributions, whether through innovation, exemplary service and work, team spirit or going beyond the call of duty.
Dr Greenidge also commended the staff’s adaptability and strength through economic and organisational challenges.
“The work you have done has enabled sound decision-making, it has helped to safeguard national assets, and it has enhanced the financial literacy of our people,” he stated. “Each of you is a part of the foundation that helped keep the central bank strong.”
Margaret Best celebrated 40 years of service with the bank.
Calling on staff to reflect on their collective journey, Dr Greenidge encouraged them to examine not only how far they have come individually but also what they have built together.
Looking ahead, Dr Greenidge spoke of the bank’s ongoing transformation.
“Digitisation is no longer an aspiration; it is our reality… We are becoming more agile and data-driven in what we do,” he said.
He also underscored the importance of embedding excellence into the institution’s culture and public service.
“When excellence becomes embedded in how we think and how we act, in how we show up to work, in how we support one another, and in how we serve the public, then we do more than meet targets; we create meaningful, lasting impact.”
The evening’s entertainment showcased the Darien Bailey Band featuring Casheda Dottin and Israel Allen, and 2 Mile Hill and Friends, including Betty Payne, Peach Bless, and RPB. Chad Montplaisir and Nikita Herbert made individual appearances. (STT)
