A Bridgetown court has sentenced a St James man to 24 months behind bars for breaking into four cars and stealing cash.
Kedwin Stephan Clarke, 30 of Ricks Road, Thorpes, St James, appeared before Magistrate Manila Renee in the No. 2 District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court and confessed that between June 23 and 24, he stole $32 belonging to Meschach Thornhill and $350 belonging to Alicia Clarke. He also pleaded guilty to damaging motor cars belonging to Tonya Paul and Jamila Thompson between June 27 and 28.
Court prosecutor Sergeant Reginald Blackman told the court that in all four matters, the complainants had parked and secured their cars, and upon their return, found the triangular rear window broken. In the cases of Thornhill and Clarke, money which had been left in the vehicle was taken.
Clarke is also facing 10 other charges, which were read to him. These include that:
– on May 2, he entered the dwelling house of Cynthia Osbourne, as a trespasser, and stole $65 and at the time was armed with a knife
– on June 21, he entered the dwelling house of Safara Benskin, as a trespasser, and stole a handbag valued $50, a purse valued $25 and $280 in cash
– on June 21, he damaged a motor car belonging to Wayne Benskin
– between June 26 and 27, he damaged a motor van belonging to Shawn Foster
– between June 26 and 27, he stole a bluetooth transmitter valued $100, and $10 belonging to Phyllis Worrell
– on July 3, he damaged a motor car belonging to Troy Moore
– between July 3 and 5, he damaged a motor car belonging to Betty Brathwaite
– between July 4 and 5, he damaged a motor car belonging to Colvin Brathwaite
– between July 4 and 5, he damaged a motor car belonging to Diamond Linton, and
– on July 4, he damaged a motor car belonging to Christian Charles
No pleas were taken, and these matters were transferred to the Holetown Magistrates’ Court, where Clarke is set to appear on July 15.
