Closure of the Criminal Division of the Supreme Court of Barbados and Magistrates Courts with Criminal Jurisdiction

The public is advised that the Barbados Bar Association has requested that their members be granted leave from court to attend a training session scheduled for Thursday, September 26th, 2024. This leave has been granted, and as a result, the following adjustments to the courts’ schedule have been made.

There will be no sittings at the Criminal Division of the Supreme Court of Barbados, including
Criminal Courts 2, 2A, 3, 3A, 4, 4A, 5, and 5A. Matters set down for hearing in the Court of
Appeal of the Supreme Court of Barbados and the Civil and Family Divisions of the High Court
will proceed as scheduled.

Additionally, during this period, there will be no hearings at any magistrate’s court with criminal
jurisdiction island-wide. Matters set down for hearing at the District ‘A’ Civil and Domestic,
Coroner’s and Juvenile courts will proceed as scheduled.

All offices of the respective high courts, magistrates’ courts, and the other departments of the
Registration Department will remain open.

The Registration Department regrets and apologises for any inconvenience these changes may
cause.
