A 19-year-old coconut vendor has been remanded to Dodds Prison for 28 days after being accused of inflicting serious bodily harm on a 14-year-old girl.
Trevene Reveldo Boyce, 19, of Bissex Hill, St Joseph was not required to plead to the indictable charge that with intent to maim, disfigure, or disable, he did serious bodily harm to a female minor on April 4.
Sergeant Victoria Leacock cited several grounds in her objection to bail, saying that there was a level of violence used as the complainant suffered multiple fractures to the left eye. Pointing out that the girl was 14 years old, she said that Boyce may seek to influence or intimidate her. The prosecutor added that the accused was currently on bail from the No. 2 court in relation to another charge.
Denying bail, acting Chief Magistrate Douglas Frederick adjourned the case until May 7 when Boyce will return to the No. 1 District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court.
