Construction worker charged in pensioner’s slaying

A 24-year-old construction worker has been remanded to Dodds Prison after appearing in court charged with the murder of a 75-year-old man and the wounding of two others during an incident at Cave Hill earlier this month.

Jahmali Jahwaun Irell Greenidge, of Lower Bridge Gap, Cave Hill, St Michael, appeared before the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court No. 2 on Thursday, charged with the murder of Nigel Gibbs, who was fatally stabbed at Cave Hill, St Michael, on March 1.

He is also accused that, with intent to maim, disfigure or disable Morgan Nelson and Raymond Lane, he did them serious bodily harm on the same date. No pleas were taken to the charges, which are all indictable.

After Magistrate Manila Renee remanded him to Dodds Prison, his attorney, Kristin Vanderpool, requested that he undergo a psychiatric evaluation while at the penal facility.

Greenidge will return to court on April 9.
